Arena Quinteto music porject

 Hi! Today I want to talk you about Arena Quinteto. This project is a band which mixture folk music and jazz music. We recorded de last year our second album entitled “Un poco de fe” and We are preparing our third album entitled “Piel de Arena”.

This project is important for me because let me to develop my creative side, I can compose and express ideas, for example in “Un poco de fe” song  we say that is necessary for  people to participate  so that there are   changes in the world.|

My group mates are my friends too, it is good to play and create an appropriate climate for music. Really I prefer performance in group, that relaxes me, but I love play alone too.

Arena Quinteto is a personal project which I have worked for seven years, sometimes it is very gratifying, however there are several difficulties, for example, it is very hard to organize to five musicians, the recordings are very expensive, our music is “new” and there are few places to performance in this country, because we want to travel to performance in other countries. In Buenos Aires our music have a good reception and we have good friends there.

Have you ever been in Andacollo? well, Andacollo is a town near from La Serena city. In this place there are many traditions. For example, in october and December there is a celebration to Virgen del Rosario de Andacollo. In this celebration you can see many cultural expresion. In the picture we can apreciate an ancient religious dance, which is very important in the history of Andacollo, Chile and latinoamerican culture. In the picture you can see a kind of flute which exists since before the arrival of the spanish to our country. The sound of this religious dance reminds us about the lament of the miner. Carlos Botto He was a Chilean pianist, composer and professor. Carlos Botto was born in Viña del  Mar in 1923, in this city he began his piano studies with Odelia Malfatti. In 1948 he entered to National Conservatory in Santiago where he studie piano and composition. He was disciple of Gustavo Becerra, Domingo Santa Cruz and Juan Orrego Salas. Late he was student of Luigi Dallapicola in New York. Botto was professor in Universidad de Chile and Esuela Moderna de Música, he became in director of National Conservatory between 1961 and 1968. He also was president of The Musical Younths between 1961 and 1974.   His music for piano is very interesting and complex, for example his “Caprichos” for piano are a great work which have a big development of harmony and form. Hi musician friends, today I want to talk about a web site: www.ismlp.org .  This site is very important for any musician because it contain a lot scores by the most of classical composers. In the main menu you go to scores and you can chose the composers and instrument or group that you need. Also you can search by nationality, instrumentation, time period and genre. There are compositions, transcription, arrangements and audio files to listen to works by composers of all age. In this site you can free download the scores that you need.  If you want you can donate money to help to this incredible library but it is not required. Also you can purchase a membership or participate in forum or chat in the community. Also you can upload your scores and to share them with other musicians.
